Occupational Therapist
Open to any individual initially certified to practice as an Occupational Therapist or licensed or regulated by a state, commonwealth, district, or territory to practice as an occupational therapist.

Occupational Therapy Assistant
Open to any individual initially certified to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant or licensed or regulated by a state, commonwealth, district, or territory to practice as an occupational therapy assistant.

1st Year New Practitioner—Occupational Therapist
Open to graduates who have completed an ACOTE® accredited Occupational Therapist program within the previous 12 months and are preparing to take the NBCOT certification exam.

2nd Year New Practitioner—Occupational Therapist
Open to graduates who completed an ACOTE® accredited Occupational Therapist program and received the NBCOT certificate within 24 months after graduation.

Student
Open to students enrolled in OT or OTA educational programs that are accredited or pending accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®).

Individual Associate
Open to any individual that is not a U.S. certified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant, and to an Occupational Therapist that is certified exclusively in a foreign country.
$225 per year. Full Member Benefits with the exception of voting privileges.
ADDITIONAL MEMBERSHIPS
Organizational Associate
Open to non-Occupational Therapy health organizations and institutions and to nonprofit facilities, libraries, and educational programs. Full Member Benefits with the exception of voting privileges, and access to one Annual Conference & Expo registration and one Continuing Education program.

Retired OT
Open to Occupational Therapists aged 65 or older and not paid for employment in any capacity.

Post-Professional Master's Degree (2-year membership)
Open to Occupational Therapists enrolled full-time in a Master's degree program. Candidates must send a letter from their department chair on university stationery stating enrollment status. PPMD members qualify for this category one time only.
$300 for 2-year period or Installment plan at $150 per year.
Post-Professional Doctorate Degree (4-year membership)
Open to Occupational Therapists enrolled full-time in a Doctorate degree program. Candidates must send a letter from their department chair on university stationery stating enrollment status. PPDD members qualify for this category one time only.
$600 for 4-year period or Installment plan at $150 per year.
Waived Dues for Medical Reasons (1-year membership)
Open to Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants who have permanent disability and are not able to be employed. To qualify, the OT or OTA must have been a member of AOTA at the onset of disability and must provide satisfactory verification of the permanent disability from the Social Security Administration, the Veteran's Administration, worker's compensation, or a qualified physician.
Individuals must submit documentation showing their disability status along with the AOTA request form for waived dues. Waived medical dues are for 1-year only. Upon renewal, the member must reapply and submit the same type of documentation as in the previous year.
