CMS Requests AOTA Involvement in Short Term Alternatives to Therapy Services Contract
AOTA was invited to participate in the Short Term Alternatives to Therapy Services (STATS) kickoff meeting on November 6, 2008.
STATS is a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services contract issued this year to consider alternatives to the Medicare outpatient therapy cap. The contract was awarded to Computer Sciences Corporation.
STATS will involve potential changes to billing and payment guidance under the physician fee schedule to control therapy costs.
AOTA anticipates being asked to nominate expert workgroup participants in December 2008. Stay tuned to the AOTA Web site for further information.
