Upcoming MDS 3.0 Train-the-Trainer Conference
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is working to pull together a second Train-the-Trainer Conference to meet the needs of the community as we enter into the MDS 3.0 era.
The MDS 3.0 is an abbreviation for Minimum Data Sets, which is a clinical assessment for all residents in Medicare-certified nursing homes. The MDS is used in assessing a resident’s functional capabilities.
Currently, nursing homes are using the MDS 2.0 and in the near future will have to start using a new version of the assessment, MDS 3.0. CMS is hoping to train users beforehand so that the transition goes smoothly.
The high demand to attend the April National Train-the-Trainer Conference did not fully succeed in meeting the needs of all interested parties due to the space limitations.
In order for CMS to better assess a conference location and to estimate the likely number of participants, CMS is seeking input from the nursing home/long-term care community. If you or your organization is interested in attending a CMS Train-the-Trainer conference sometime in August, please send an e-mail to survey@mdsnationalconference.com with the following information by June 1, 2010:
- organization or facility name,
- geographic location, and
- number of interested participants (name and contact information would also be helpful, but is not required).
