AJOT Call For Papers: Occupational Therapy Research Related to Deployed Military and Returning Veterans and Their Families

The American Journal of Occupational Therapy announces a call for papers for a special issue on occupational therapy for military deployment-related issues, including

  • Occupational therapy intervention effectiveness,
  • Instrument development and testing, and
  • Examination of the occupational performance needs of deployed military and returning veterans.

The objectives of this special issue are to generate empirical research supporting occupational therapy’s role in the treatment of deployed military and recently returning veterans (and their families) for use by consumers, insurers, and other health care professionals. Literature reviews will not be accepted.

To indicate interest, please e-mail an abstract of your proposed submission to Mary Radomski (Mary.Radomski@allina.com) and LTC Teresa Brininger (teresa.brininger@us.army.mil), special issue guest editors, by March 31, 2013.

Abstracts should be no more than 200 words and contain the headings Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Abstracts can address research in progress and should indicate when the study will be completed and whether a submission date of September 2013 can be met. Papers matching the goals of this special issue will be invited for formal submission.

The deadline for paper submission is tentatively set for September 15, 2013. Authors invited for formal submission will receive an e-mail message with formatting specifications and author guidelines.
