Richmond, Virginia

Jodi Teitelman, PhD
Richmond, Virginia

Understanding the experiences of individuals as they face life-altering events, such as vision loss, is essential to the success of occupational therapy. Drs.

Al Copolillo and Jodi Teitelman together contributed two valuable articles to the occupational therapy literature that enhance our understanding of the perspectives and decision-making processes of individuals with vision loss. Further, these articles are an outstanding example of how to translate the findings from a well-designed naturalistic study into practice.

"Acquisition and Integration of Low Vision Assistive Devices: Understanding the Decision-Making Process of Older Adults With Low Vision," published in the May/June 2005 issue of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy

"Psychosocial Issues in Older Adults' Adjustment to Vision Loss: Findings From Qualitative Interviews and Focus Groups," published in the July/August 2005 issue of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy
