Fellowship Programs designated by the Fellowship Program Review Committee (FPRC) as Accredited have successfully completed all three steps of the initial recognition process, and their candidacy application has been determined to be in substantial compliance with the AOTA Fellowship Program Criteria and Interpretive Guidelines and AOTA. Fellowship Programs are recognized for a certain period of time—and are continuously monitored by the FPRC—to ensure ongoing compliance.

Fellowship Programs designated by the FPRC as Candidates, have submitted their Candidacy Application and are pending a final decision of accreditation status by the FPRC. Programs in with a Candidate status can accept fellows.

Fellowship Programs assigned Applicant Status have submitted an Intent to Seek Accreditation Form (ISA), and are pending a final decision by the FPRC. Once the ISA has been accepted, it will be expected that they submit a Candidacy Application by the next review cycle. New applicant organizations are permitted to interview potential fellows, but are not permitted to make a fellow an offer, until after the FPRC has decided that the program is either Recognized or Provisional status.
