Commission on Continuing Competence (CCC)
The Commission on Continuing Competence (CCC) is one of the standing Commissions of the Representative Assembly (RA) established by the Bylaws of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
About the CCC
The Commission on Continuing Competence (CCC) is one of the bodies of the Representative Assembly (RA) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). In existence since 2002, the CCC serves AOTA by identifying, analyzing, and anticipating issues in continuing competence and professional development.
Purpose of the CCC
- Promote continuing competence across all aspects of the occupational therapy profession.
- Promote the value of occupational therapy practitioners engaging in lifelong learning through reflective self-assessment, embracing continuing competence in practice, and developing a professional development plan.
- Provide resources and set high quality standards for guiding occupational therapy professionals in building their capacity to perform current and future roles and responsibilities.
- Conduct environmental scans (internally and externally) to understand, trends, practice needs, and systems that affect the continuing competence of occupational therapy practitioners.
- Provide a forum for discussion on continuing competence.
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the Representative Assembly.
- Serve as professional liaisons for AOTA, state regulatory boards, state associations, employers, practitioners, and other professional or public organizations for informing career and continuing competence development by providing resources, advisement, and monitoring.
