PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Occupational therapy practitioners are aware that falls are a serious threat to the health and well-being of older adults seriously blocking participation. This webinar will introduce resources, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers for us to address this public health crisis.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Describe awareness of the full breadth of Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths and Injuries (STEADI) algorithm and related resources.
  • Identify at least two potential clinical applications for the STEADI materials.

Gwen Bergen, PhD, MS, MPH serves as a Behavioral Scientist on the Home and Recreation Team in the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention (DUIP) at the Injury Center. She works to prevent older adult falls, to understand older adult mobility issues, and to investigate better sources of surveillance and economic data for unintentional injury.
