This widely used occupational therapy frame of reference is applied to enrich the lives of individuals with a variety of disabilities across the lifespan. 

SIPSIS was one of the five original Special Interest Sections created by AOTA in 1977. The others were Developmental Disabilities, Gerontology [now Productive Aging], Mental Health, and Physical Disabilities [now Rehabilitation & Disability].
