AOTA evaluation checklists: Enhancing quality reporting & interdisciplinary collaboration
American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) evaluation checklists are available to guide client assessments, demonstrate the distinct value of occupational therapy, and help practitioners navigate quality-reporting programs. Each checklist prompts the occupational therapy practitioner (OTP) to assess the client’s concerns and discuss occupational history, performance patterns, goals, priorities, and other information essential to the occupational profile. After gathering information for the profile, the checklist’s design leads the therapist to the analysis of occupational performance, allowing OTPs to indicate the areas addressed and which of those areas are priorities. AOTA has also included helpful information for practitioners in settings with federal quality-reporting programs. These checklists are regularly updated and will be available for additional settings in the near future.
