2024 AOTA Elections process

At AOTA, we take our elections very seriously since we depend on our future leaders to help guide us through the next chapters of our organization. AOTA is 100% committed to ensuring an honest and transparent election process.

We understand there has been some confusion surrounding voting requirements and wanted to provide some additional clarification. At AOTA, voters are required to hold membership at least 30 days prior to the election window being open to ensure that the voting process is orderly, fair, and held with integrity – without any kind of inappropriate interference.

In accordance with our AOTA bylaws, anyone who became a member by January 2nd is eligible to vote in the 2024 election. The election opened on February 2nd and will conclude on February 23rd.

Moving forward, we are committed to providing additional communications that highlight the electoral timeline to ensure all our members and non-members are aware of the election deadlines. We can and will do better.

Although we certainly understand the disappointment of those who are unable to vote this year, the membership deadline is imperative to ensuring a fair, honest election process.

To ensure the integrity of AOTA elections, voting is handled through a 3rd party vendor and all ballots cast are encrypted for the highest level of security and confidentiality; AOTA nor the election vendor ever sees how individual members voted during the electoral process.

Election results are then published in accordance with Association procedures and this year—to enhance transparency—AOTA will publish the final vote count for candidates across all election races.
