Sleep and weighted blankets

Many people struggle with falling and staying asleep. Chronic sleep disturbances can lead to poor health outcomes. Weighted blankets are a popular sleep aid and are now commercially available. Occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) address sleep preparation and participation to support engagement in other everyday occupations, as put forth in the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process (OTPF-4; American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA], 2020). Should OTPs recommend weighted blankets to improve sleep?
