AOTA partners with Council for Exceptional Children

As part of our ongoing efforts to promote the unique role of occupational therapy (OT) in the schools, AOTA partnered with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) to develop a free webinar on the role of occupational therapy in assisting students with self-regulation. The first half of the webinar includes an overview of self-regulation by AOTA’s Vice President of Practice Engagement & Capacity, Dr. Varleisha Gibbs, and the OT interventions and strategies used in schools. The second half is a panel discussion with three school-based occupational therapists and three teachers discussing the success they have experienced from their interprofessional collaboration. This webinar is being marketed to policymakers and school leadership to promote the often overlooked benefit that occupational therapy provides students.
