Enhancing vision and independence

Within the scope of vision enhancement for clients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the implantable miniature telescope (IMT) by Dr. Isaac Lipshitz is an intriguing device. Its latest iteration, the SING IMT by Samsara Vision (2018), which isn’t as widely known, is especially intriguing. This smaller incision, new generation intraocular device represents an interesting advancement in helping clients regain visual autonomy. The IMT is designed for individuals affected by vision loss from AMD. It magnifies central field objects and projects them onto areas of the retina unaffected by AMD, making previously indiscernible details visible (Gupta et al., 2014).
