The Person–Environment–Occupation Model examines the interplay between its three components in supporting occupational performance (Law et al., 1996). One constant dilemma in inpatient rehabilitation settings is how to move beyond basic ADLs and an emphasis on the physical environment to create opportunities to engage in higher level occupations that effectively encompass the social and cultural environments as well.
