At the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program, Analysis of Therapeutic Activities is a required course that combines kinesiology with activity analysis. Concepts necessary for clinical reasoning when working with clients, such as performance skills, performance patterns, client factors, culture, adaptation, and grading are introduced to students (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education [ACOTE®] standard B.3.6). I was invited by Luanne Hargadon, BS, COTA/L, course instructor, as a guest to present a 2-day workshop for activity analysis, where self-hardening clay was used to teach concepts to students.
