Trauma-informed care: Developing fieldwork competence

Trauma is a widespread, harmful, and costly public health problem (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [SAMHSA], 2014). It has no boundaries with regard to age, gender, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, geography, or sexual orientation; and trauma is an almost universal experience for people with mental and substance use disorders.
