2024 AOTA Election results

AOTA congratulates all our election winners this year. We are so excited to welcome you all into the AOTA executive family and know your leadership will help guide our organization in new and exciting directions. For all our candidates, we hope you stay actively engaged in AOTA since each of you brings creativity and innovative ideas to our advocacy work on behalf of our thousands of members. We need every one of you to fulfill our mission.

In regard to the election process, to ensure the integrity of our elections, voting was handled through a 3rd party vendor and all ballots cast were encrypted for the highest level of security and confidentiality; neither AOTA nor the election vendor ever saw how any individual member voted during the electoral process.

We are happy to announce that our voter turnout increased this year to 6.08% (up from 3.96% in 2023), which is the highest participation rate seen since 2006. We will work to ensure even more members are involved in the election process in the coming years. We understand there was some confusion around voting eligibility this year. We hear you, and we are 100% committed to providing members and nonmembers with more consistent communications in the future around those electoral deadlines.

Thank you so much for your diligence and your voices as we work every day to make AOTA a better organization. We couldn’t do it without you.

A Note About Minimum Quorum

AOTA is incorporated in the District of Columbia, and therefore is governed by Washington, DC, non-profit law and AOTA’s Bylaws which require a minimum quorum of voting members for elections. There are 11 races that did not reach the necessary quorum for number of votes cast. Specific information related to the quorum for each race is outlined below.

Positions that did not receive enough votes to meet the required quorum for a valid election will be filled through an appointment process until the next regular election. All eligible candidates for each election slate will be considered for appointment, and one candidate will be selected by the presiding chairperson of each body. Appointment decisions will be made no later than June 30, 2024.
