AOTA Executive Director Search
The AOTA Board of Directors has started the process of hiring the permanent AOTA Executive Director, in conjunction with the Ramsay Group. The Board has organized an inclusive process for the search with the opportunity for input from all sectors and stakeholders.
In November 2023, the Board sent a survey to get feedback from the occupational therapy community. Much of the survey is qualitative. The Ramsay Group and the Board are reviewing all of the responses in detail. More than 1,100 people completed the survey. View the survey results.
The deadline for applications was January 12, 2024. We are no longer accepting applications for this position.

October 24, 2023
- AOTA engages the Ramsay Group to conduct the Executive Director Search.
Week of October 30
- Survey and focus group questions are finalized.
November 6
- Survey link is sent to members, lapsed members, never members, and students.
Week of November 13
- The Ramsay Group facilitates focus group discussions with volunteer leadership and AOTA staff.
November 28
- Survey response deadline.
November 29–December 3
- Survey and focus group responses compiled by the Ramsay Group and report sent back to the AOTA Board of Directors.
- Responses are posted to the AOTA website.
December 4
- The Ramsay Group joins the AOTA Board of Directors to finalize the Executive Director position profile with incorporation of feedback from surveys and focus groups.
- Position profile is posted on AOTA website with link to the Ramsay Group.
December 5, 2023–January 15, 2024
- The Ramsay Group conducts the search for appropriate candidates.
January 18-22
- Candidates are interviewed.
February 7-8
- Finalists are interviewed.
Deadline to announce new Executive Director: INSPIRE 2024/Annual Conference & Expo in Orlando.
