AOTA Board President, RA Speaker announce Post-Dobbs Task Force

A message from AOTA President Alyson Stover, MOT, JD, OTR/L, and Representative Assembly Speaker Michael Urban, OTD, MBA, OTR/L, CEAS

In response to the Supreme Court ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson overturning, Roe v. Wade, and the impact on how we practice occupational therapy, the AOTA Board has created a Post-Dobbs Task Force, which is charged with the following:

  • Identify areas within occupational therapy's scope of practice that may be directly/indirectly affected, limited, and/or impaired due to the Dobbs decision.
  • Analyze existing sources and tools to address the identified areas that occupational therapy practitioners can use to provide the most meaningful care.
  • Analyze resource gaps and generate a plan to identify content and tools to address these areas and to maximize occupational therapy’s impact on those affected by the Dobbs decision.

The task force is comprised of the following members and experts:

  • Emily Rothman, Co-Chair
  • Rakhi Srivastava, Co-Chair
  • Joyce Rioux, RACC Representative
  • Julie Diaz, OTA Member
  • Juniper Myers, Consumer Member
  • Danika Viola, OT Member
  • Delaney McKee, Student Member
  • Darya Nemati, Student Member

We look forward to their output and sharing the meaningful resources with our members. If you have questions, please feel free to email ra@aota.org.
