States Consider Work Requirements for Receiving Medicaid

The federal government is advancing a Medicaid "refit" by granting state waivers. In January 2018, the Trump administration announced that it would approve waivers allowing states to implement work requirements in their Medicaid programs. For the first time in Medicaid's 54-year history, people would be required to report work as a condition for their Medicaid health coverage. The Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) has since approved nine work requirement
