During a coffee get together, my ever-optimistic friend likened menopause to a butterfly’s transformation—renewal, reinvention, beauty. I closed my eyes and saw instead a distracted penguin. For many women, midlife and menopause feel less like a graceful metamorphosis and more like carrying an invisible burden in life shrouded by obscurity. During this life phase, women face societal barriers to meaningful participation in occupations, including discrimination, bias, disparities, and injustices. So, how do we flip the narrative?
