Integrating AOTA evidence-based practice resources into an entry-level OTD research course
Occupational therapy students learn best when they see direct application of their learning to their future practice. This article describes an innovative approach to integrating the American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA’s) evidence-based practice resources, including the AJOT Authors & Issues video series, into an entry-level OTD research course to enhance student learning. This novel approach is aligned with Knowles’ (1980) principles of adult learning theory (i.e., andragogy). It reinforces research concepts, and more importantly, aims to inspire students to become clinician-researchers and pursue research opportunities in their future occupational therapy practice.
