Social determinants of health (e.g., social, behavioral, environmental) affect overall health outcomes and are risk factors for substance use disorder (SUD) (Otu et al., 2020). Some of those factors are closely related, as employment opportunities are directly related to available finances and health coverage, which impact SUD and options for treatment (Moody et al., 2017).
