Hydrotherapy in the NICU: An inside look

Occupational therapy is becoming a more prevalent presence in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) across the country. According to Ross and colleagues (2017), 76% of NICUs with available neonatal staffing data have a designated therapy team, with higher level NICUs more likely to have that team. In 2017, the American Academy of Pediatrics established guidelines that require a neonatal therapist to be on staff in NICUs with a level III or IV designation.
