Addressing toe walking in children and adolescents: An interdisciplinary approach
Toe walking (TW) is an atypical gait pattern that can be present in children who are referred for occupational therapy and/or physical therapy (OT/PT). Toe walking occurs when the forefoot, not the heel, makes initial contact when walking. Idiopathic toe walking (ITW) occurs in a child who can heel-toe walk on request but habitually walks on their forefoot.
