Bridging the gap: A perinatal mental health program in early intervention

The journey into parenthood is often depicted as a time of joy and fulfillment. However, for many individuals, the perinatal period—encompassing pregnancy and the first year postpartum—can be fraught with unexpected challenges. In the chaos of welcoming a new member into the family, the mental health of caregivers often takes a back seat. Up to 1 in 5 mothers (Gavin et. al., 2005) and 1 in 10 fathers (Rao et. al., 2020) experience postpartum depression or anxiety after their baby’s birth.
