Empowering fieldwork educators

At press time, there were 498 accredited occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant programs requiring completion of Level II fieldwork (FW) as an integral part of professional preparation (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education [ACOTE], 2023a). Because Level II FW requires the supervision of an occupational therapy practitioner (OTP), increasing the number of well-prepared fieldwork educators (FWEs) is crucial. Yet, the decision to serve as a FWE is regarded as a challenge by some.
