Using keyform maps in Level II fieldwork: Clinical stories and lessons learned

Fieldwork is an essential part of OT and OTA student training, building skills in key professional tasks. Level II fieldwork provides opportunities for OT students to gain confidence in administering, scoring, and interpreting assessments. In his 2020 Slagle Lecture, Craig Velozo emphasized the importance of giving meaning to these scores through a person-centered approach (Velozo, 2021). Making meaning from assessment scores is not always easy.  As such, he introduced keyform maps as practical tools to help students interpret clinical scores, encouraging them to see assessments as insights into individual needs rather than just numbers.
