Developing scholar-practitioner mindset: Grounded in research, informed by practice, rooted in care
Technological advancement as well as societal and economic changes shape the landscape of healthcare and the occupational therapy profession. Occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) are expected to provide client-centered, evidence-based, and cost-effective care while working as part of an interdisciplinary team. These advancements require OTPs to think critically, use clinical reasoning, apply research to practice, and work collaboratively in different clinical environments (Fisher & Crabtree, 2009; Moats, 2017). To become well-versed clinicians, students need to develop a scholar–practitioner mindset.
