Functional neurological disorder: Occupational therapy's vital role in client care

During the past 5 to 10 years, allied health professionals have seen an increase in referrals for clients with functional neurological disorder (FND), which is characterized by symptoms of altered motor or sensory function teamed with incompatible clinical findings between symptoms and recognized neurological or medical conditions (Nicholson et al, 2020). This disconnect in information transmission causes unintentional symptoms occurring anywhere in the body and without conscious awareness.
