Beyond the frame: An occupation-based perspective, addressing the risk factors impacting work participation within the film industry community
From mobile streaming services to network shows, film entertainment has never been more accessible and in-demand than it is today. As of 2019, the U.S. film industry generated a revenue of more than $25.9 billion (Statista, 2021), yet there is a considerable need for addressing ergonomics within the industry due to risk factors on sets (Santos & Rebula de Oliveira, 2019). Daily building, transporting, packing, and operating heavy/expensive equipment are required on sets, situating production workers at risk for ergonomic injuries (Alton, 1995).
