AOTA Comments on CY 2013 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule

2013-Fee-Proposed-RuleThe CY 2013 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) includes, among other things, a plan to collect claims-based data on patient function beginning January 1, 2013. The data would be collected using new non-payable G-codes and modifiers and would ultimately be used to fundamentally reform the payment system for outpatient therapy. AOTA submitted comments to CMS on the proposed rule on September 4, 2012 and will meet with top CMS officials later this month to further discuss the matter.
