AOTA has been very successful in challenging problematic Medicare LCDs through constant monitoring, review, and advocacy efforts. In addition, occupational therapy practitioners have done a good job of keeping AOTA informed of LCDs that result in inappropriate denials or narrow the OT scope of practice. AOTA has been reviewing, researching, and responding to LCD issues directly, with the clinical guidance of state associations and OT practitioners, and achieving successes.
